walking today to Leskernick Hill from West Moor Gate, Brown Willy beyond

The southern side of the hill appears as a sprawl of granite, but on this hillside is an amazing Bronze Age settlement – round houses, enclosures, boundary walls and ritual sites. I’ve come here often of over the years, spending time there, and learning something of the site – this is such a special place. The site was surveyed and excavated 1995-99, see Leskernick records by UCL and included in the English Heritage Bodmin Moor Archaeological Survey volume 1: the human landscape 1994.
